Bio

J.M. Frey is a Masters Candidate in the joint Ryerson and York University Communications and Culture program. Her research interests include fancrafting, cosplay, and Mary-sues, and she is the principal investigator on the Swirlygate Project, a satire of common science fiction gender and genre clishes. She is also the lead academic correspondant and resident Geek University lecturer on HardcoreNerdity.com, and sometimes appears on the the Watchtower Podcast.

She has published several poems in the international literary magazine The White Wall Review, as well as several articles in Japan's Fukuoka Now magazine and Reader's Digest's Our Canada Magazine. She won the award for Best Short Story of 2007 in the Stargate Offworld Zine, and her sci-fi novella "Back" was published with Silverthought Press in the 2008 Spring quarter.
